We are delighted that many of our tutees managed to strike the perfect balance between hard work and much-needed rest over the summer break. Now, as the 2025/26 academic year begins, we could not be more thrilled to be back in full flow! Some pupils continued working with us over the summer to keep momentum going, others have joined us for the first time this week and by next week we will be at full tilt. Excitement, anticipation and eagerness are in the air and it feels wonderful to be starting another year of growth and achievement with such a fantastic group of students.
If you’d like to find out more about how we work at BA Tuition, you can read the full details HERE. You can also download our Welcome Booklet which sets out everything parents and tutees need to know at the start of their journey with us. We are always happy to answer any questions, so do feel free to reach out.
Introducing Roni: Our New Maths Specialist
We’re thrilled to announce that we’ve welcomed a new tutor to our growing team: Roni, a brilliant and committed Maths tutor.
Roni’s academic track record speaks volumes. With a Grade 9 in GCSE Maths and a Distinction in Level 2 Advanced Maths, he ranks in the top 3% of GCSE Maths achievers in the country! But beyond his impressive results, what makes Roni so special is his approach to learning. He has the rare ability, having achieved so highly, of making complex topics engaging and accessible for those students who are just about to face their own exams and assessments, knowing precisely what is needed to prepare them for success.
Whether your child needs to secure key stage 3 concepts or push for top grades at GCSE, Roni focuses on clarity, confidence and steady progress. His goal is not just improved grades, but helping pupils discover the satisfaction and joy of maths.
You can make an enquiry about working with Roni HERE.
Bradley’s Top Tips for a Successful Academic Year
Starting a new school year can feel both exciting and daunting. Here are four evidence-based tips to help tutees of all ages begin on the right foot:
- Set clear but flexible goals: Research shows that students who set specific academic goals are more likely to succeed. Write down what you’d like to achieve this term, but allow room for adjustment as school progresses.
- Prioritise routine early: Establishing consistent homework, reading and revision habits in September prevents stress later. The first few weeks are the perfect time to embed healthy patterns.
- Stay curious beyond the classroom: According to the Education Endowment Foundation, students who extend learning beyond lessons (through wider reading, documentaries or discussions) deepen understanding and build confidence.
- Ask questions often: Cognitive psychology highlights that retrieval and clarification strengthen memory. Don’t wait until exam season; seek help and ask questions as soon as a topic feels unclear.
Making the Mental Switch from Summer to School
Transitioning from long summer days to structured school routines can be tough. For pupils, it often means adjusting to earlier mornings, heavier workloads and renewed social dynamics. For parents, it’s about supporting children while re-establishing family routines.
Here are some practical, research-backed strategies to ease the switch:
- Gradual adjustment of sleep: Moving bedtime earlier by 15 minutes every night helps re-set circadian rhythms more smoothly. Sleep researchers emphasise that teenagers, in particular, need around 8–10 hours.
- Create a calming evening routine: Reduce screen time before bed and encourage reading, journaling or listening to calming music. This signals to the brain that it’s time to wind down.
- Open conversations: Normalise feelings of worry. Studies from the Child Mind Institute show that children who discuss anxieties with trusted adults cope far better with transitions.
- Celebrate small wins: Acknowledge progress in the first weeks back, whether it’s remembering equipment, joining a club or completing homework on time. Recognition fuels motivation.
By focusing on these areas, the whole family can make the start of the school year smoother and more positive.
Life Outside the Books
As ever, we like to share a little bit about our family life beyond tuition. Arlo’s swimming is improving at an astonishing rate; his preparations for the 2040 Olympics remain firmly on track! We rounded off the summer with a wonderful trip to Woburn Safari Park, which played into our love of all animals. On the home front, Arlo’s transition to a big bed is proving trickier than expected, but he’ll get there in his own time (we hope!). We’re also delighted that Roni has enjoyed his first week with us; he has certainly needed something to cheer him up after West Ham's unimpressive start to the football season.
See you all next week :-)
