With just 10 days to go until the English GCSE exam marathon begins, we can feel the excitement (and a few nerves) building in every session.
But here’s the truth: you’ve got this. You’ve put in the time, the practice and you have the brainpower. Now it’s all about nailing that exam technique, crafting precise, high-scoring responses, and walking into that exam hall with confidence. Remember, every past paper, every PETAL paragraph, and every practice essay you’ve written has brought you to this point. We are so proud of how hard everyone has worked — and we’ll be right there with you until the finish line.
Behind the Scenes: Where Do Your Exam Papers Go?
Ever wondered what happens once your exam paper is swept away by the invigilator? Here’s a little peek behind the curtain:
✅ Step 1: Papers are collected, sealed in secure bags, and transported directly to the exam board’s processing centre.
✅ Step 2: Papers are scanned into a digital format — so markers across the country can view them online.
✅ Step 3: Examiners log into a secure online platform, where they are allocated batches of questions or sections to mark.
✅ Step 4: Every script is marked with detailed online annotations, and each examiner’s marking is checked and moderated to ensure fairness and consistency.
✅ Step 5: Marks are sent through rigorous quality control, then uploaded to your school’s secure system.
Check out last week's blog post to see how they then reach you on results day.
It really is a robust, carefully controlled process designed to give you the fairest outcome possible.

Mental Health Check: Post-Exam Mindset
Research shows that after a real exam, the best approach is to:
✅ Acknowledge what went well (even small wins).
✅ Avoid analysing every tiny detail with friends.
✅ Refocus on the next goal and next exam — remember, it’s a marathon, not a sprint!
Big no-no? Obsessively replaying the exam in your head or comparing answers — it drains your energy and confidence. Stay forward-focused.

Life Outside the Books
It’s going to be a busy Bank Holiday weekend at BA English Tuition, as we try to squeeze in as many sessions as we can. Bradley is still buzzing from last weekend’s boxing event (even if Arsenal brought him back down to earth) and Arlo’s out in the sunshine, rocking his first pair of shorts this year and continuing to add to his musical repertoire. And yes, Jemma’s designer sunglasses have finally made their 2025 debut.
Remember to stay focused and to stay BA...Tuition!
